Why this trip

Fly into Nairobi and home from Mombasa.

Good to know

When to go

Golf is played all year. For the safari, the dry months are best: roughly June to September and January to February. The long rains fall from March to May, and the short rains from October to December. The Great Migration is usually in the Maasai Mara from about July to November.

Getting there

Fly into Nairobi, or into Mombasa for the coast. Kenya is 3 hours ahead of the UK in winter and 2 hours ahead in summer, so there is little jet lag.

Entry

British passport holders apply online for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before travelling, at least 2 weeks ahead. Your passport needs 6 months left from the day you arrive and 2 blank pages. From 5 October 2026 most visitors also need Kenyan Government travel health insurance, bought with the eTA. Check the GOV.UK travel advice before you travel.

Malaria

GOV.UK lists malaria among the health risks in Kenya. See your GP or a travel clinic at least 8 weeks before you go.

Handicaps

Many clubs ask for a handicap certificate. Bring yours.

Dress

Collared shirts on the course; no T-shirts or denim.

Add to any trip

Every trip can be extended before or after the golf:

The Maasai Mara

Two or three nights on safari, with game drives and a hot-air balloon at dawn.

Amboseli

Elephants on the plains beneath Kilimanjaro.

The coast

A few nights on the beach at Diani, or rounds at Vipingo Ridge and Nyali.

Mauritius

A week of golf and beach on the island, a flight from Nairobi.

Groups and societies

From two golfers to a whole society. Tell us your numbers and we plan the trip around them. Non-golfing partners are welcome: we plan their days too.
