Bangladesh 2027
England are expected in Bangladesh in February 2027 for two Test matches, and hardly anybody from home will go with them. That is the whole reason to.
Why this one
We have been to Bangladesh twice. It is one of the least-travelled countries in Asia and one of the most rewarding — a place where a Test match is an event rather than a fixture, where the tea country in the north-east is as beautiful as anywhere on the subcontinent, and where the reception a visiting supporter gets is unlike anything you will find in Australia or the Caribbean.
It is also a trip that rewards a bit of preparation, and a small group. Hotels, transfers, match tickets and an overland extension to the tea gardens are all arranged for you, by people who have done it before rather than by someone reading the same guidebook you are.
A note on the schedule
There is no published fixture list for this tour yet — no dates, no venues, nothing official. A two-Test series in February 2027 is widely expected and is being marketed by several operators, ourselves included, but until the schedule is confirmed anyone telling you which grounds it will be played at is guessing. We will publish the dates and the grounds here the moment they are announced.
Before you go
Visas
British citizens require a visa, best applied for in advance from the Bangladeshi High Commission in London. Your passport must be valid for at least six months with two blank pages.
Weather in February
February is Bangladesh’s finest month — dry, cooler and comfortable, around 25–30°C with moderate humidity. One of the most pleasant months of the year to visit.
Currency
Bangladeshi Taka (BDT). Bring pounds or dollars and exchange locally. ATMs are available in Dhaka and the larger cities.
Health
Consult your GP before travelling. Hepatitis A and Typhoid vaccinations are commonly recommended. Drink bottled water.
Mobile and power
Grameenphone or Robi for a local SIM, with 4G coverage in the major cities. Plug types are a mix of C, D, G and K at 220V, so bring a universal adaptor.
Ramadan
Ramadan is expected to run from around 8 February to around 8 March 2027, subject to the moon sighting, so the tour would fall inside it. In practice it changes very little: international hotels serve their guests as normal, some restaurants restrict daytime hours, and traffic is at its heaviest in the hour before sunset.
Getting around
Transfers are arranged for you. Dhaka traffic is heavy — allow sixty to ninety minutes for airport journeys, and rather longer in the hour before sunset during Ramadan.
